Mexico - November 2010

I couldn't believe my luck when Stuart agreed to a beach holiday, especially as the ski resorts in Canada were opening for the start of the much awaited ski season. He obviously needed a well earned break, so I must remember this for next year (definitely Hawaii)! We flew direct to Cancun and stayed in a lovely all inclusive called Dreams about 30 mins or so from the airport. The weather was ok (not great) and I managed to soak up a few rays by the pool each day, in between transporting the girls to and from the kids club. Kids club was free and open from 9am to 10.30pm everyday and the girls wanted to go. We simply exchanged the girls for a circular type pager which would flash and vibrate if the girls needed us. When the girls weren't at Kids club they were in the swimming pool. I think they were both fish in a previous life!

The hotel was located right on the beach, it had a beautiful infinity pool, swing bar and a spa, all of which making it a prime venue for weddings and whilst we were there were many. The food was good (no dicky tummies) and the cocktails just kept coming (non-alcoholic for the girls of course). Holly's favourite was the "mudslide" and Amy's the "strawberry daiquiri". We even had a jacuzzi on our balcony. All in all a great week away. We never left the hotel mind, but returned suitably tanned, especially Holly.

Fall - October 2010

Fall is upon us. The leaves are changing colour and we had our first sighting of the deer in our garden which always means the cold is coming. Preparations for Halloween are underway and decorations are starting to appear all around the village. For a friend's birthday several girls decided to go for a horseback ride. I had a great time but oh how my bottom hurt the next day!

This year I decided to have a little Halloween party for girls. They each invited four friends (the hardest decision ever), we decorated the house, played games and ate plenty of orange food! We also went trick or treating around the village and collected enough candy to last us a lifetime.

September 2010

September was all about getting back in to the school routine and loosing those few holiday pounds! Running was my priority and we (the girls and I) took part in the annual Terry Fox charity run. The girls participated as part of a school event and I ran a 5k run around the village - completed in 30 mins (not too bad!). This year's hockey season is also underway. I'm a White Devil and Stuart is an Iceman. Both girls have begun ice-skating lessons again on a Saturday. Holly seems much more comfortable on the ice than last year. Amy is still not overly keen. Stuart is still working hard on the Prairie and rarely around. One weekend myself and a friend took the kids stock car racing. What a great afternoon we had, albeit a little cold. The kids were able to look at the cars and have their photos taken behind the wheel. The best bit as far as they were concerned was the candy and crisps that the drivers were handing out for free.

Amy's 1st Day at School - 30th August 2010

Today was Amy's first day in Kindergarten at big school. Sadly no school uniform but the obligatory extra large back pack, new shoes and big smiles. She goes half days until end of September so no more shopping for me for a while!

Holly starts Grade 2.
