Ice Hockey - Skate School

During the first week of September I attended "Skate School". Every night I left home with a very large and heavy bag packed with all 'the gear' for ice hockey, including a long stick which apparently I am going to be able to hit a puk with. On the Monday night after half an hour of huffing and puffing I was finally ready to hit the ice. There was approximately 20 other nervous girls ready to take to the ice and learn the tricks of the trade. We had a very good lady trainer who really did put us through our paces. All those days skating at Richmond ice-rink as a teenager have certainly paid off, although social skating and skating dressed like the Michelin Man are two very different things. The one hour lessons went with surprising speed, some nights more positive than others. It was a great week albeit very tiring and I can't wait to kick Stuart's butt on the ice! I think skating is the one thing that I am better at than Stuart. I have a week of "Hockey School" at the end of the month to learn the rules of the actual game of ice-hockey and then I will find out if I'm luckily enough to play for the White or Red Ralston Devils. I will then get my own jersey with my own number and my own name.
